Daniel Scott Headshot

Hi, I'm Daniel Scott

About / Journey

Daniel (@myDeveloperJourney) is originally from Fort Worth, TX, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Science with a concentration in Finance. After spending a decade in the financial industry, he recognized the potential of software automation to disrupt his role. Determined to stay ahead of the curve, Daniel trained to become a software developer over a two-year period, all while continuing his career in finance.

He quickly gained experience by building web applications for small business owners, which led him to create MDJ Studios, a software development studio that provides solutions for small businesses and non-profits. Fast forward several years, Daniel was invited to become an instructor at General Assembly, where he shares his experience of transitioning into tech. Since 2017, he has served as a Senior Lead Software Engineering Instructor at General Assembly, mentoring aspiring software developers and earning recognition as a Distinguished Faculty Member for his exemplary performance.

Daniel is passionate about building software that empowers people and thrives in fast-paced environments. In addition to running his studio, he is actively involved in mentoring the next generation of developers through community events, speaking engagements, workshops, and courses.
